MKCL – FRFC (Forest Rights Facilitation Centre)

The idea of constituting such a facilitation centre is rooted in the long-felt need that would unlock the potential of this sector to the growth and empowerment of communities while also supporting the government with policy and research. This will also help the communities in efficiently accessing the local and distant markets for their minor forest produce, reducing if not eliminating the overpowering role of the many intermediaries in the process.

  1. Continuous communication and interaction on implementation of Forest Rights Acts between and within the communities and individuals.
  2. Execution for convergence and design of schematic investment and interventions by private and public sectors to maximize the resources and help augment the incomes and livelihood resources for Forest Dwellers.
  3. Creation of easy access to information and knowledge on a regular basis with relevant solutions for queries with advisory services.
  4. Formation of validated advisories for communities on Forest Rights and Resource Management to improve productivity and ensure sustainability.

Deliverables

  1. Apart from this broader objective, the more tangible and quantifiable outcomes of this project to set up the Facilitation Centre would be.
  2. Create a comprehensive instrument for conducting base line socio-economic, cultural, and biodiversity surveys in the Gram Sabhas that demand a list of services from the FC.
  3. To create and train a team of 25 Community Resource Persons (CRPs).
  4. Create standardized templates of different forms, letters, submissions, and documents that are needed to fulfil the government and internal procedures.
